Opt for a scar-free and naturally effective hair transplant in Naples

Recently, an innovative hair transplant technique has arrived exclusively in Italy. It originated in Holland and is patented by Dutch Ph.D., Conradus Chosal Gho. This technique, whose acronym is HST which stands for Hair Stemcell Transplantation, is also called PL FUT which means Partial Longitudinal Follicular Unit Transplantation.

It is also known as Hair multiplication. HST has been practiced for years in northern European countries, in London in Great Britain, in Maastricht and Amsterdam in the Netherlands, in Paris and in Cap d’Antibes in France. More than 15000 interventions have been carried out in recent years, with a remarkable number of results.

HST: DIFFERS FROM FUE AND FUT

Although applied to individual follicular units, this technique differs from classic FUE. While the latter practices the movement of follicular units from the donor area located at the back of the head towards the recipient area, HST only takes portions of them from the follicular units. Through the use of needles, commonly called punches, half a millimeter in size, only a small part of the follicular unit is removed.

These small, partial samples are aimed at creating distinct sections of hair stem cells. These stem cells are present both in the portion taken and in the portion that remains in situ. This is the basis of the hair multiplication process. Each set of stem cells gives rise to the regrowth of a follicular unit equal to the one from which it came.

HST: MULTIPLICATION OF TREATED FOLLICULAR UNITS

Two follicular units are generated from one follicular unit, so we can speak of their multiplication. Hair multiplication/follicular units is the solution when the patient unfortunately has a sparse donor area or one that has been exploited after having undergone other operations. Another decisive case, impossible to solve with other techniques, is that of the restoration of extensive alopecia.

The transplanted hairs, as well as those that will develop from the residual portions of follicular units, grow back after a nine-month cycle. The follicular units reproduce and regenerate exactly the same as the original one. When the donor area has regenerated, it will be possible, if the patient wishes, to perform new interventions.

HST: ONLY IN HAIR SCIENCE CLINICS

HST is practiced exclusively in Hair Science Clinics by doctors trained in the Hair Science Academy in Maastricht where the scientific laboratory that gave rise to the patent is located. The surgery is carried out by taking grafts of the order of half a millimeter in size. These minute samples are the size of a needle prick. In this way, the tiny wounds heal very quickly and after two or three days the skin is perfectly healed.

HST: NO SCARS, NO BLEEDING, AND NO BANDAGING

There is no bleeding and therefore the patient should not have his head bandaged at the end of the operation. The post-operative course is rapid, without traumatic consequences. After a few days, with the onset of the growth of previously shaved hair, the patient’s appearance is presentable and does not require social eviction as in other cases. The grafts being microscopic make it possible to have a high-density restoration in the donor area, the grafts are in fact positioned very close to each other.

HST: LEAN SYSTEMS REINFORCED BY A PATENTED MEDIUM

These thin, tissue-free grafts would not survive once extracted, as would be the case with a plant uprooted without soil around the roots. It is then necessary to give energy to the grafts so that they can survive. This is done by immersing them in a bath of a patented pharmaceutical composition composed of, among other things, elements of extracellular matrix. The grafts must remain in this compound, called medium, for at least two hours after they have been extracted.

During the extraction phase, the grafts are taken from the patient’s donor area. Here the follicular units are insensitive to dihydrotestosterone and are free from falling. These same follicular units, once transplanted, will give birth to hairs that in turn will no longer fall out. The reimplantation phase in the recipient area takes place by making very small holes in the patient’s skin. These holes are the slots in which the already prepared samples will be inserted, at close range.

HST: SCAR-FREE, HIGH-DENSITY, NATURAL-LOOKING

The result is a very natural hairstyle, without scars, and with a very high density. The HST technique is also applied to the reconstruction of eyebrows, beards, and to restore scars such as those created by FUT FUSS strip transplants. HST is also a reconstructive surgery technique, illustrated in various scientific publications, for skin burns.

HST: WITH HONEST CONSULTATION THE PROJECT THAT CAN BE IMPLEMENTED

Before choosing to undergo HST surgery, the patient undergoes a trichological examination. This visit, after drawing up a detailed anamnesis form, aims to define the intervention project together with the patient. The patient usually has very high expectations. By consulting him, he will become aware of his situation. In particular, he will be clearly told about the conditions in his donor area. This is to disillusion the patient from illusory expectations in which, unfortunately, other unscrupulous operators lead patients. However, the number of follicular units available to the patient is limited. The promise of miraculous results is made without too many scruples by operators with unethical behavior, moreover it is made attractive by very low economic costs.

The damage that often results from interventions carried out in countries with poor hygiene requirements and often by non-medically qualified operators is difficult to restore. With the consultation, the patient is honestly made aware of his real potential in terms of transplantation offered by his donor area. In addition, this finding must be related to the area that needs to be restored. The donor areas with the highest potential because they have a large capital of follicular units, can provide from 4 to 6 thousand follicular units. After that, this donor area can no longer be used. If the patient’s alopecia is extensive, classified in Norwood 4 or higher, the patient who relies on techniques that simply move the follicular units on the head will undergo only a partial and incomplete restoration despite the expectations made important by the promises.

HST: ONLY IN HAIR SCIENCE CLINICS

Hair Science Clinics are the only ones where patients can, exclusively, undergo HST surgery. Regenerative medicine, with the science applied to stem cells, is the basis of the philosophy of such clinics. The only Hair Science Clinic in Italy is located in Milan. Others will be opened in other locations in the future. A network of trichologists in the area offers patients the possibility of a consultation at their places of residence. For the surgery, the only option is to go to Milan.
